Raheem Sterling was omitted Enzo Maresca‘s Chelsea squad for their European Conference League play out.

Chelsea will face Servette in the first leg on Thursday. but there was no place for Sterling on the playlist submitted to UEFA.

However, Ben ChilwellWelsey Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo were also not on the list, according to the BBC.

The first leg will take place at Stamford Bridge, the return leg is scheduled for August 29 in Switzerland.

Sterling was not in Maresca’s squad for the Premier League opening Defeat against Manchester Cityand sought “clarity” regarding the decision.

The England international has three years left on his contract and is reportedly worth £325,000-a-week after joining the club two years ago for £47.5 million.

Chelsea have an impressive player pool, with over 30 players already under contract and are believed to be close to signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

Although this deal could potentially see Conor Gallagher move in the other direction, it is another offensive reinforcement for the new manager and Sterling could become redundant.

Chelsea have several options including Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer, while Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Djordje Petrovic, Carney Chukwuemeka and David Datro Fofana are among those who may want to move elsewhere.

Romelu Lukaku was the club’s record signing, but Chelsea are also looking for a buyer, with a transfer to Italy likely.

This summer, Chelsea signed Pedro Neto for £54 million, one of 11 new signings for the west London team this summer, and some of the existing players may struggle to get playing time.
