Some reports this morning raised excitement about the possibility that Microsoft The release date might have been missed by mistake windows 11 24H2, and that the update was imminent – but it isn’t.
where it originally came from Ghackswho saw that blog post This article, written by Microsoft, is intended for IT professionals on the topic of advanced data protection with Windows and Copilot.
In that post, Microsoft said Copilot-related updates would “align with the annual Windows 11 feature update releases,” which apparently means Windows 11 24H2. And we were told those Copilot updates would arrive in preview on September 24, 2024, followed by a full release on October 8.
So, it was quickly (and understandably) concluded that the Windows 11 24H2 update should also arrive on October 8, if the release of both 24H2 and these Copilot-related updates goes as Microsoft has stated. All pretty straightforward, right? Well, not…
mistakes were made
Microsoft has updated the blog post with clearer terms: “The dates below are for our monthly servicing updates for supported versions of Windows 11 and do not relate to when Windows 11, version 24H2 becomes generally available.”
The mention of aligning with the annual updates for Windows 11 has been removed from the post, so clearly, Microsoft has made a mistake here (though it doesn’t admit it outright).
When it finally arrives, Windows 11 24H2 will bring a number of new features, including Wi-Fi 7 support (which will only be useful if your PC’s hardware and router also support it) and some cool changes on the AI front. These include Copilot is becoming an appSo you can resize its window and move the assistant around on the desktop.
