Another game, another double-double for Angel Reese.
It took less than three quarters for the Chicago Sky’s rookie forward to do what she does best, finishing with 19 points and 20 rebounds as the team suffered an 86-68 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday night. It’s Reese’s third consecutive double-double after the Olympic break and her first 20-rebound game.
Reese struggled to find her touch early in the game, but increased her efficiency in the second half, hitting 8 of 16 shots from the field, her first shooting percentage of 50 percent or better since July 7 against the Seattle Storm. She finished the game with a plus-minus of -20.
Fans on social media praised Reese for carrying on with business as usual and recording another double-double in Sunday’s contest:

Angel Reese will remain a double-double machine. But she needs to be more efficient offensively and more solid and controlled in defense #wnba

Angel Reese gets a double-double in 3 quarters, the WNBA is so easy, she can get a double-double in every game without having a sack like you all say? The new era needs a tougher league pic.twitter.com/MIXecETyBb

Six minutes before the end of the third quarter, Angel Reese already has a double-double #HeavenCity
Reese has proven to be a consistent contributor of points and rebounds, but she still needs to improve in a few areas. Her efficiency needs to improve relative to her volume of attack.
Still, Reese provides the Sky with a cornerstone to build on as the team continues to chase its first WNBA title since 2021.
