Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka defeated sixth-seeded American Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5 in the women’s US Open final on Saturday (September 7, 2024).
Sabalenka drowned out the wild cheers of the home team at Arthur Ashe Stadium to defeat Pegula in the final game and win her first title at Flushing Meadows.

A year after narrowly losing in the final, the number two seed fought back from a break in both sets to take the win, only to fall to the ground in her moment of triumph.
Pegula, 30, had waited a long time to reach her first major final, but despite the loud support of the New York crowd, she could not withstand the raw power of her opponent.
Sabalenka won her third Grand Slam title after winning the Australian Open twice.
