Carabao Cup hero leaves Liverpool to join forces with Jürgen Klopp’s assistant Pep Ljinders

Bobby Clark has finally said goodbye to Liverpool after reuniting with Pep Lijnders.

The 19-year-old, who helped the Reds to victory, Carabao Cup joined Red Bull Salzburg this year, signing a deal worth up to £10 million, with the Reds having a sell-on clause of 17.5 percent.

Liverpool also has a right of pre-emption on a contract with Austria, by which he can be bound.

Clark joins Lijnders, who plays in Liverpool as Jurgen KloppIn this role, he played a key role in the midfielder’s promotion to the first team.

After Klopp’s departure at the end of last season Lijnders was quickly signed by the Austrian team He wants to establish himself as an independent head coach.

Since he knows Clark well as a player, there is hope that the two can shine together.

Commenting on his move, Clark said: “I am delighted to take this step in my career and can’t wait to get on the pitch with my new teammates.”

“For me it is the perfect move to the perfect club.

“I saw at Liverpool the kind of players that are trained in Salzburg, like Sadio Mane and Dominik Szoboszlai, and they were a huge inspiration to me.

“Everyone knows how great the prospects are for young players here.

“Of course I also know Pep Lijnders from Liverpool and the fact that he is the coach here influenced my decision.”

The club’s sporting director, Bernhard Seonbuchner, added: “Bobby Clark is a highly talented player with huge potential who will continue to improve with us thanks to his skills.

“He developed particularly at Liverpool, played in the first team there and therefore knows our coach well.

“That is certainly one reason why we were able to sign Bobby for FC Red Bull Salzburg.”

After coming through the youth ranks, Clark made 14 appearances for Liverpool’s first team.

Clark scored one goal and provided two assists for the Reds and was part of the Liverpool side that won the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea earlier this year.
