Yashasvi Jaiswal The young opener, who scored 56 on fast pitches against Bangladesh here on Thursday, said such experiences will make him a strong and all-weather player in the future. Jaiswal’s half-century and his 62-run partnership with fellow left-handed batsman Rishabh Pant Jaiswal helped India recover from a paltry 34 in the opening day of the first Test after losing three wickets for 34 runs in the first 10 overs. “It was amazing to come and play in these conditions. This will make me stronger and I will learn from this how to play in all these conditions and plan my innings,” Jaiswal told reporters at the press conference after the day.

He said, “I try to bat according to my team’s need and keep changing my game accordingly. How can I bat if wickets fall in the beginning? How can I bat when runs are being scored?”

Jaiswal admitted that the bowlers got some assistance in the first few sessions, forcing the Indian batsmen to adopt a cautious approach.

He said, “Initially I think the ball was moving a bit and seaming and the wicket was a bit low. So we took our time. But if you look at the last session, we scored quite well and I think we are in a good position at the moment.”

The 22-year-old said he and Pant were waiting for loose balls to score runs as Bangladesh bowlers had the upper hand at that stage.

Jaiswal said, “I think the wicket was a bit helpful in the beginning and if you look at the weather, it was a bit cloudy as well. But we were trying to get through that phase by playing it safe.” Hassan MahmudThe bowlers who took four wickets batted on a good line and tried to use their feet well against the fast bowlers.

He said, “I think he definitely bowled well but at times he also gave loose balls on which we scored runs. We were just talking about how we can use our feet.

“We were trying to see if there were any loose balls to score runs and trying to build partnerships and play as long as possible,” he said.
