Indian Cricket Team India will return to action after a long gap of 43 days on Thursday (September 19) when the Rohit Sharma-led side will take on Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match Test series at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The match will kick off a busy season for the two-time World Test Championship (WTC) runners-up as they resume their battle to reach a third successive final. Over the next four months, India will host Bangladesh and New Zealand and then travel to Australia where they are scheduled to play 10 Test matches.

Bangladesh is coming to India after creating history by winning a Test match and series against Pakistan for the first time in history after two victories in Rawalpindi. The Nazmul Hossain Shanto-led side will look to win a Test match against India for the first time in the next two weeks.

So far, India and Bangladesh have played 13 Test matches against each other, of which India has won 11 and two have been drawn.

The Indian team has undergone major changes since the last Test match it played was against England in March. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant He is returning to the team after being unavailable earlier due to personal reasons and injuries.

The Chennai pitch is traditionally considered to favour spinners but a red soil pitch is set to be used, indicating that it could be better for batting and also offer some help to the fast bowlers.
