Brooks Koepka defeated Jon Rahm in a playoff at the Greenbrier Invitational to win his fifth LIV golf title and his second of the year.

Koepka, 34, shot a seven-under-par 63 in his final round to match Rahm’s 19-under-par 65 at the Old White Course in West Virginia.

During the playoff on the 18th hole, Rahm’s tee shot landed in a bunker on the back edge and his second shot brought him within 20 feet of the hole.

Koepka made par with ease, putting pressure on Rahm to keep up with his opponent to stay in contention.

The Spaniard was agonizingly close, but his putt for par missed and Koepka gave him the win.

The win was Koepka’s fifth LIV golf title of his career, following victories in Jeddah in 2022 and 2023, Orlando in 2023 and Singapore earlier this year.

“This is probably my favorite piece,” Koepka said.

“It’s always good when you have to compete against good players.”

Rahm beat Koepka to win the 2023 Masters, his second major, and the American said it was nice to get revenge on the 29-year-old.

“Jon is a damn good player. For some reason he’s always been a little bit better than me lately. It’s a nice feeling to just get one.”

Smash, led by Koepka, won the team title by three strokes.
