Mikel Arteta: Arsenal boss begins new contract talks after transfer window closes

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he will begin talks over a new contract with the club once the transfer window closes.

Arteta’s current contract expires at the end of this season, but talks should not be a problem and the 42-year-old enjoys a good relationship with the club’s management.

“The focus was on the transfer window,” said Arteta.

“We had a lot to do and discuss. We are on it and will deal with it at the right time.”

The Spaniard has been Arsenal’s coach since 2019 and has led the team to second places in the last two Premier League seasons.

“Above all, I am very grateful for the position I am in and the people I work with every day because it is really difficult to find that harmony, that trust, that belief and that alignment with the vision,” Arteta said.

“That’s something I always mention because I think there’s still an incredible time ahead of us. It’s very exciting and I’m really looking forward to it.”
