The Pakistan cricket team has faced a lot of criticism in recent times after its disappointing performance. The Babar Azam-led side crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to the USA and India. However, the situation worsened after the humiliating defeat in the Test series against Bangladesh, in which the hosts lost both the matches. Former Pakistan cricket team captain Rashid Latif gave a harsh verdict on the state of Pakistan cricket and in a video going viral on social media, he said that “Pakistan cricket is in the ICU right now.”
He said, “Pakistan cricket is in the ICU at the moment. They will need a professional doctor. They need technically competent professionals to run things physically and financially. They need trainers and many other things. You can see there are many problems on or off the field.”

Latif also advised Babar Azam to stay away from captaincy for the betterment of his game. Babar has not performed well in the last few international matches and the Pakistan captain has faced criticism from both fans and experts.
Latif gave the example of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar And advised Babar to concentrate more on his game.
Latif said, “We must remember that he was forcibly removed from the captaincy. When the mind is not working properly, it also affects the nerves. You try to hit hard on every ball. He should let go of the idea of becoming a captain and focus on freeing himself from the mental pressure. This issue is more about mental stress than technical performance and it is clear that he is struggling a lot to deal with the mental pressure.”
