The 2023 NFL season was a disappointing one for the Carolina Panthers, but after some much-needed changes on and off the field, the franchise has new optimism for the 2024 NFL season.

The Panthers have revamped their coaching staff, hiring Dave Canales as head coach, while also adding more offensive support to quarterback Bryce Young.

Carolina invested in its offensive line and receiving corps, two areas that struggled last season.

Young hopes to prove that he was the right choice with the number 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. And the first results of the newly formed offense were positive, with reports coming out of training camp saying the quarterback seemed more confident.

This will be put to the test in Week 1 when Carolina faces NFC South rivals New Orleans Saints.

Before their opening game, the Panthers announced several changes to the roster.

“Ian Thomas has been placed on the injured list, among other measures,” the team said on X.

Ian Thomas has been sidelined since the start of training camp with a calf injury, and the veteran tight end will now miss at least the first four games of the season.

Meanwhile, Carolina has also released cornerback Keenan Isaac, who was claimed off waivers last month following the NFL’s roster cuts.

With two spots open on the roster, the Panthers signed tight end Feleipe Franks and defensive tackle Jayden Peevy from their practice squad.

They also added running back Mike Boone and cornerback Lonnie Johnson to the active roster.
