Overview of the city

In addition to the possible transfer of Ilkay Gündogan, Man City are also said to be considering transfers of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace and Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, but these rumors have died down in recent days.

Despite the departure of Julian Alvarez and the injury of Oscar Bobb, the club is not looking for big names or expensive signings, but is exploring the signing of several potential experienced strikers and midfielders.

Few City players have been linked with a move away, although both Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo have been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia, and City could potentially sign a full-back if either of them leaves.

Are Lukaku and Osimhen changing clubs?

There have been many links between Chelsea and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who played a crucial role in the club winning the Scudetto in 2023.

The Nigerian striker has a contract with Napoli until 2026 and is valued at around £100 million, but it is not known how much Chelsea are willing to pay.

Chelsea’s potential deal for the 25-year-old is reportedly independent of a potential deal for Romelu Lukaku in the other direction. Lukaku has played for both Roma and Inter and would like to stay in Serie A.

However, Napoli would prefer a loan with an obligation to buy rather than a direct sale. Heaven Italy report that the Italian club would offer a loan fee of around €5 million, with an additional €25 million transfer fee next summer.

Chelsea signed Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5 million in 2021.

Liverpool have come close to signing Giorgi Mamardashvili – but Arne Slot’s first potential signing will not play this year

Liverpool sign a contract with Giorgi Mamardashvili and prepare to make the Valencia goalkeeper the first new signing of Arne Slot‘s rule.

Mamardashvili is not expected to arrive at Anfield until the summer of 2025, but Liverpool have made progress in their efforts to sign the 23-year-old.

Alisson is expected to remain the first-choice goalkeeper this season, but the Georgia international could be an important factor in Liverpool’s future prospects in terms of succession planning.

Mamardashvili is eight years younger than the Brazilian, who has been automatically available when fit since his £65 million arrival from Roma in 2019. The Georgian No.1 saved the most shots at Euro 2024, 29, to help his nation reach the round of 16. He also kept 13 clean sheets in LaLiga last season.

Chelsea and Manchester United remain interested, but not for £60 million for a player with a year left on his contract. The two clubs have discussed deals internally, but, as reported, the Independent last week, it would probably have to be a loan with an obligation to buy or some other arrangement than simply paying £60 million up front.
