Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm Jr. receives important injury update from Aaron Boone
New York Yankees Third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. is “close to returning,” after Club manager Aaron Boone.
Chisholm, the acquired by the Yankees from the Miami Marlins at the MLB transfer deadline, played 14 games with his new team until suffer an injury on August 12 in a crushing loss to the Chicago White Sox. As Chisholm slid toward home base, he sprained his left elbow when he collided with the knee of White Sox catcher Korey Lee.
Initially, there were fears that the injury was more serious than it appeared and that surgery might be required. However, X-rays showed no tear and Chisholm said shortly after the injury that it was “100% realistic” that he could be ready to play after his minimum 10-day stay on the injured list. Oswald Peraza and Oswaldo Cabrera have taken over at third base during Chisholm’s absence.
